A screening for oral cancer is a simple, painless procedure in preventive dentistry. Dr. Oh, our primary dentist, will give you a thorough examination which will include a check for lumps, bumps, colored patches, sores, ulcerations, or any other tissue changes that might be considered abnormal.

As with most cancers, early detection is key in reducing the need for invasive treatments, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments. While oral cancer screenings are intended to be precautionary rather than diagnostic, if Dr. Oh finds an abnormality, he can make recommendations for further testing, lifestyle changes, or a specialty referral, if needed.
